The American Dental Association has appointed Nader Nadershahi, DDS, EdD, as its next executive director.
Dr. Nadershahi currently serves as the ADA’s senior vice president of education and professional affairs, according to a March 10 news release from the ADA.
Prior to joining the ADA in June 2025, Dr. Nadershahi served as dean of the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco for nine years.
Elizabeth Shapiro, DDS, had been serving as interim executive director since February 2025. After the transition of duties, Dr. Shapiro will resume her position as ADA chief of governance and strategy management.
Dr. Nadershahi will begin his role as executive director March 23, the release said.
