Emile Rossouw, PhD, has been appointed president of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Rossouw is chair of the Division of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health in Rochester, N.Y.
Dr. Rossouw earned his dental degrees from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, where he also obtained advanced degrees in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics as well as his doctorate degree in dental science. His 42-year career includes various roles in teaching, research and clinical care, according to a May 27 news release. He was certified by the ABO in 2007.
In addition to serving as a reviewer for various journals, Dr. Rossouw is a member of several organizations, including the American Dental Association, the ABO’s College of Diplomates and the Charles H. Tweed Foundation for Orthodontic Research.
