Dr. Susan Rowan named dean of UIC College of Dentistry

The University of Illinois Chicago appointed Susan Rowan, DDS, as dean of its dental school.

Dr. Rowan has served as the interim dean of the dental school since 2022 and was previously the executive associate dean and associate dean for clinical affairs at the College of Dentistry, according to a March 21 news release from the university. 

Dr. Rowan has been responsible for administering the college’s predoctoral, postgraduate, community outreach and faculty practice clinical operations; overseeing preclinical and clinical education courses and programs; coordinating the student clinical experience; and ensuring the college’s compliance with the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation.

The appointment is for a two-year term and is effective April 16, pending approval from the university’s board, the release said.
