Western Dental closed its offices for two months when the pandemic hit the U.S.
- The DSO is now seeing strong market activity in terms of acquisition.
- A lot of dentists who had thought about retiring in the next few years have moved their timelines up because of COVID-19.
- Both dentists selling to other dentists or to DSOs account for the market activity.
- The majority of newly graduated dentists are preferring to work with a DSO instead of starting their own practice, Ms. Mallon said, citing student loans and the additional responsibilities of owning a practice.
