From insurance reimbursement rates to a new private equity firm focused on orthodontists and pediatric dentists, here are five dental payer updates to know that Becker’s has covered since Aug. 17:

1. Insurance reimbursement rates have remained stagnant for dentists in 2022 despite rising operating costs, according to an August poll by the American Dental Association’s Health Policy Institute.

2. A private equity firm focused on orthodontists and pediatric dentists launched Sept. 1.

3. Dental Wealth Advisors, a wealth management firm, will join Buckingham Strategic Wealth, an investment adviser.

4. Eight states have passed laws regarding dental provider network leasing, virtual credit cards and noncovered services in 2022.

5. CMS is proposing to expand what dental services are considered medically necessary for Medicare coverage as part of its proposed Calendar Year 2023 Physician Fee Schedule.
