Maryland to conduct study on dental Medicaid reimbursement rates

The Maryland Department of Health is set to study the feasibility of offering Medicaid reimbursements for oral health professionals who provide full or partial dental work, according to an April 29 report by Maryland Matters.

The study is in connection with House Bill 103 and Senate Bill 600. The study will provide insight to push more healthcare plans to have more incentive to cover dentures.

The bill also tests the idea of providing an adequate reimbursement rate for dental house-call services by looking at average commercial rates.

HB 103 is sponsored by Del. Heather Bagnall and SB 600 is sponsored by Sen. Benjamin Kramer.

Both bills are awaiting approval from Gov. Wes Moore, the report said.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place November 12–14 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
