The Kentucky House of Representatives passed a bill that would require dental insurers honor patients’ written assignment of benefits, according to a March 12 report from CKNJ

House Bill 210 ensures that payment for dental services goes directly to the provider instead of the policyholder.

The written assignment of benefits must be signed by both the patient and provider. The patient has the ability to revoke the assignment, without permission from the provider, by writing to the insurer.

The bill, introduced by state Rep. Michael Pollock, will go to the state Senate for consideration, the report said.
