Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond has ordered the Oklahoma Health Care Authority to withdraw a proposed rule adding prior authorizations for complex tooth extractions.
A letter from Mr. Drummond sent to the OHCA director said the rule creates excessive bureaucracy, according to a Feb. 25 news release from the attorney general’s office.
Mr. Drummond said out-of-state, for-profit managed care organizations have favored the rule, which would “create more bureaucracy and red tape.” He deemed the rule invalid because the OHCA changed the language of the rule two times after it was published for public review.
The public comments submitted overwhelmingly disapproved of the rules changes that the OHCA adopted, the letter said.
