Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont has put forward legislation to remove license application and renewal fees for certain occupations, including dental hygienists.

By eliminating occupational licensing fees, the state looks to encourage workers to join industries with in-demand jobs, such as dentistry, according to a March 3 news release from the governor’s office.

The fee range for dental hygienist licenses is $105 to $150, with nearly 4,000 payers in the state.

Professions included in the proposal will still have to obtain and renew licenses, but there will be no fee.

The proposal is part of Senate Bill 1246, which is currently under consideration in the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, the release said.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place November 12–14 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
