The program is funded by a $1 million gift from the Benco Family Foundation, according to a March 12 news release from the Dental Trade Alliance Foundation. The Benco Family Foundation is the charitable arm of dental distributor Benco Dental.
The scholarship will aim to increase access to a career in dental hygiene for individuals in communities that have historically lacked a path into the industry.
Dental supplier Young Innovations is also supporting the program by providing preventive items and school supplies, the release said.
