Dental supply sales expected to surpass $4.6B after pandemic slump

Dental supply sales have rebounded since 2020 and are expected to surpass $4.6 billion in 2021 as patient volumes return to pre-pandemic levels, Axios reported Aug. 24.

Axios gathered sales data from four major dental suppliers: Dentsply Sirona, Align, Henry Schein and Patterson.

Dental supply purchases totaled $2.2 billion in 2020, down from nearly $4 billion in 2019. But recent patient volume increases have led dental practices to invest more in supplies such as implants, imaging machines, tools, teeth aligners and software.

Results from the companies' 2021 second quarter financial reports show that sales are at nearly $4 billion.
