The company took steps to contain the incident including taking some systems offline, leading to disruption of business operations, according to an Oct. 15 news release from Henry Schein.
No practice management software used by clients was affected by the incident.
Henry Schein is contacting cybersecurity and forensic information technology experts to determine if any data has been impacted and is working to resolve the incident as soon as possible.
The company also alerted law enforcement about the situation, the release said.
