Disparities in oral healthcare highlighted on Capitol Hill

Oral health leaders gathered on Capitol Hill last week to discuss disparities in oral healthcare in the United States.

The event was hosted by Oral Health America and Oral Healthcare Can’t Wait, an initiative of the Dental Trade Alliance. It addressed disparities in dental care that affect lower-income communities across the country. The event is a part of OHA’s Fall for Smiles campaign, which aims at educating Americans every September and October about the importance of maintaining a healthy oral care habits.

The event also honored Sen. Richard Durbin, from Illinois, for his legislative work supporting oral health and Louis Wade Sullivan, MD, who received the Marvin Goldstein Outstanding Public Service Award.
