Dr. Ebenezer Bush Jr. passes away at age 96: 3 things to know

Long Beach, Calif., dentist Ebenezer Bush Jr., DDS, passed away at the age of 96, according to the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

Here are three things to know about Dr. Bush:

1. He opened his first dental practice after moving to Long Beach in 1954. He was the first African American to open a dental practice in Long Beach.

2. After establishing his first practice, he opened a second dental practice in Compton, Calif.

3. He earned his doctor of dental surgery at Howard University’s College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C., after serving in the U.S. Army.
