Henry Schein’s chairman, CEO challenges dental school graduates: 3 things to know

Stanley M. Bergman, chairman of the board and CEO of Henry Schein, gave commencement addresses at three elite dental schools, where he challenged the graduates to advance their careers by asking: “why not?”

Here are three things to know about Mr. Bergman’s addresses:

1. Mr. Bergman spoke at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, Temple University’s Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry and the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine.

2. Mr. Bergman stressed the importance of being a leader; in embracing inter-professionalism and the growing importance of oral health as an integral part of primary care; in adopting new oral health technology; and in promoting social responsibility.

3. Mr. Bergman proposed a number of “why not” opportunities, such as “wider specialty training,” and “why not earn a degree in public health or an MBA.”
