Here are four quick facts:
1. The Health and Services Office of Inspector General analyzed 100 dental services made between 2011 and 2013.
2. They found 85 of the sampled services did not adhere to Medicare billing requirements.
3. The majority of those payments were for tooth extractions and tooth socket repairs. These services are not covered by Medicare.
4. National Government Services is being held accountable for processing and paying Medicare claim in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. National Government Services is a Medicare administrative contractor.
