Here are six tips for successfully onboarding a new staff member, according to a Dentistry IQ report:
1. Consider giving new employees an introductory or “welcome” packet on the day they are hired.
2. On their first day, equip employees with paper and pen, and tell them to take notes and write down any questions they have.
3. Try to give new employees at least one to two weeks of supervised work before letting them work independently.
4. At the end of each week for the employees’ first month, check in with them regarding how their training is going.
5. During training — always practice what you preach.
6. Involve the entire dental team.
