SaliMark, its molecular DNA biomarker test, is the company’s first product and it requires a small amount of saliva from the patient to be able to detect early-stage cancer. PeriRx has spent the last four years developing and testing the kit. The clinical tests have shown that SaliMark performs with 95 percent accuracy.
The kit will cots $20 and the test $145. The company is working with two large dental insurers — Delta Dental and UnitedHealthcare — to obtain reimbursement codes that will allow dentists to bill the insurers directly.
The company plans to introduce the test to dentists and dental hygienists at a free continuing education course being held on Nov. 6. The test will be unveiled on a larger scale in December when it will be presented at the Greater New York Dental Meeting in New York.
