Nearly half of the athletes at the London games, 46.5 percent, reported that they had not been to a dentist in the past year.
“Things like tooth brushing techniques and higher fluoride toothpaste could prevent the toothache and associated sleeping and training difficulties that can make the crucial difference between gold and silver,” said study author Professor Ian Needleman, according to the report.
