SC dentist faces 5 months in prison for tax violations: 3 things to know

Judy Villanyi, DMD, of Life Smiles Dentistry in Mount Pleasant, S.C., was sentenced to five months in federal prison for tax violations, according to The Post and Courier.

Here are three things to know:

1. Dr. Villanyi pled guilty to obstructing and impeding the due administration of the tax code.

2. Investigators found Dr. Villanyi filed false documents for income tax returns, falsely claimed millions of dollars in tax refunds and submitted bad checks from a closed account.

3. She faced a maximum sentence of three years in prison.
