In the first-of-its-kind arrangement, Blue Cross will give incentive payments to 42 North Dental providers who demonstrate measurable quality improvements in the oral and overall health of patients. The incentive payments will go toward Blue Cross’ Dental Blue members.
“There is overwhelming evidence that dental care can aid in the management of several chronic health conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease,” said Blue Cross Executive Director of Professional Services Bob Lewando, DDS, who is also a periodontist. “This new incentive arrangement aligns with our focus on improving our members’ total health because we will reimburse the dental practice for integrated, coordinated care that supports members’ oral and overall health.”
42 North Dental currently supports more than 70 dental practices throughout the New England area.
