Biolase rejects Sonendo subsidiary patent infringement claims

Dental laser manufacturer Biolase has denied the patent infringement claims from PIPStek, a subsidiary of dental technology company Sonendo.

PIPStek asserts infringement of two patents by Biolase’s Waterlase laser.

In a Jan. 25 statement from Biolase, the company said it believes Sonendo’s claims “significantly overlap conventional technologies long used by endodontists in the field of dentistry.”

“We do not believe that the PIPStek patent case has merit and we plan to defend vigorously,” Biolase said in a Jan. 6 statement to Becker’s.
