7 dental technology updates from May

From new patents being awarded to the acquisition of a dental implant manufacturer, here are 7 dental technology updates Becker’s reported on in May:

1. Charlotte, N.C.-based Balanced Pharma received a second patent for its dental cartridge technology from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. 

2. Joseph Hogan, CEO of medical device company Align Technology, had a CEO-to-employee pay ratio of 1,659-to-1 in 2021.

3. SprintRay received FDA clearance for its High Impact Denture Base resin, a 3D printing material for denture bases. 

4. Biolase, a dental laser company, brought in $10.5 million in revenue during the first quarter of 2023. 

5. More than 1,000 of Sonendo’s GentleWave systems are now in the market. 

6. Just 17 percent of dentists reported using a 3D printer at their private practice.

7. Dental supply company Henry Schein signed a definitive agreement to acquire S.I.N. Implant System, a dental implant manufacturer based in Brazil.
