10 dental industry updates in Florida

From DSO acquisitions to legislative proposals, here are 10 dental industry updates that have taken place in Florida since October:

1. Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Imagen Dental Partners added a Florida dental practice to its network. 

2. A Florida House Health Professions & Programs Subcommittee advanced a bill to authorize the practice of dental therapists.

3. The University of Florida College of Dentistry broke ground on a multi-phase project to improve the college’s dental building in Gainesville, Fla.

4. Trinity (Fla.) Dental Arts, a dental practice in Trinity, Fla., was sold for $4.15 million and leased back.

5. Monticciolo Family & Sedation Dentistry in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., was sold to a California investor in a $10 million deal.

6. Mitchell Persenaire, DMD, opened Premier Dental Implants & Prosthodontics in Tampa, Fla.

7. Standard Dental Labs, a Florida-based dental laboratory consolidator, signed an agreement to acquire Dream Dentistry Labs in Clearwater, Fla.

8. Effingham, Ill.-based DSO Heartland Dental filed a permit to renovate a former credit union building in Jacksonville, Fla.

9. A dental practice in Cape Coral, Fla., that is leased to Heartland Dental, was sold for $3.1 million.

10. A man and a woman in Orlando, Fla., were charged with running a fake dental practice out of an office building.
