Here's the latest roundup of dental companies that have been in the headlines, including Aspen Dental and SmileDirectClub.

1. Pittsburgh-based North American Dental Group co-founders Ken Cooper and Andrew Matta, DDS, entered an acquisition agreement with private investment firm Jacobs Holding.

2. SmileDirectClub filed its initial public offering Aug. 19, after weeks of rumors that the company would be going public.

3. Nonprofit St. Vincent de Paul completed the renovation of a Glendale, Ariz., dental clinic that treats underserved patients.

4. The Delta Dental Community Care Foundation recognized 29 dental school students through its Delta Dental Student Leadership Awards.

5. Dental service provider ProHEALTH Dental has entered into a clinical affiliation agreement with the Westchester, N.Y.-based multispecialty medical practice Westmed Medical Group.

6. Inc. Magazine released its Inc. 5000 list of the nation's fastest-growing private companies, including Pacific Dental Services for the 14th time.

7. Barrington, Ill.-based Tobias Family Dentistry affiliated with DecisionOne Dental Partners in Schaumburg, Ill.

8. Kimberly Zheng, DMD, will lead East Syracuse, N.Y.-based Aspen Dental's new practice in Hobbs, N.M.

9. Software provider Dental Intelligence has acquired LocalMed, a company that created a real-time, online appointment scheduling solution for dentists and patients.
