100-year-old North Carolina practice gets new name, ownership

A Waynesville, N.C.-based dental practice that has been a family-owned practice for more than 100 years is getting a new owner and a new name, according to The Mountaineer.

Eric Morrison, DDS, is transferring ownership of the Morrison Family Dental to Heather Lee, DDS. Dr. Morrison took over the practice in 1993. The practice was founded in 1918 by Nick Medford, DDS, who passed the practice on to his son Phil Medford, DDS.

When Dr. Lee takes over, she plans to change the name to Waynesville Family Dental. She has been practicing dentistry in the area for eight years and has a long history with Dr. Morrison. Dr. Lee's parents worked at Morrison Family Dental providing crown and bridgework for patients.

Stepping aside from the more than 15,000 patients who visit Morrison Family Dental, Dr. Morrison plans to check off items on his bucket list. However, until April, Dr. Morrison will continue to practice from Mondays to Wednesdays.
