CMS says dentists should stop elective procedures amid pandemic

CMS Administrator Seema Verma urged all healthcare providers, including dentists, to cancel non-urgent procedures, according to a March 18 news conference.

Ms. Verma said all dentists should comply with the American College of Surgeons’ recommendation to provide care for patients whose “conditions cannot wait until the healthcare system returns to normal operations.”

CMS also waived requirements that physicians and other healthcare professionals must have a license in the state in which they provide services.
