Michigan dentist opens dental assistant school

Dentist owner Kalisha Morin, DDS, is opening a new dental assistant school in Holland, Mich., to expand avenues in which those interested in the position can receive training, The Holland Sentinel reported July 25.

Dr. Morin held a ribbon-cutting ceremony July 24 for the opening of the OceanPointe Dental Assisting Academy Lakeshore Campus in her practice, Holland Family Dentistry.

The academy is an addition to a dental assistant program at the Holland-based Careerline Tech Center, which Dr. Morin attended. Its opening is part of a partnership between North East, Pa.-based OceanPointe and Dr. Morin's MonaLeoƱe Academy.

The Lakeshore campus will officially open its doors to students in August with an initial class of eight students. Courses will last 12 weeks and tuition will cost approximately $3,500, with payment plans available.
