3 recent dental legislation proposals

From oral health improvements to dental recruitment, here are three dental bills, acts and legislation proposals Becker's has reported on since Feb. 7:

1. A group of legislators introduced the Oral Health Literacy and Awareness Act of 2023 to the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. The bill aims to curb the increase in oral diseases and related conditions by providing prevention education as part of a five-year oral health literacy campaign.

2. A proposed bill in Oregon to allocate $20 million for programs to recruit dental hygienists and assistants is being considered in the state House.

3. U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., introduced a bill that would provide Medicare beneficiaries additional coverage for medically necessary dental services.
