Former Missouri dentist gets probation for theft, setting fire to practice

A former Missouri dentist was recently sentenced to two years of probation for stealing and setting fire to his practice, KOAM reported May 15.

Thomas Alms, DDS, and his wife, Laura Alms, were charged in 2019 with arson for setting fire to Dr. Alms' dental practice and later filing the arson as an accident. They collected $25,000 in damages from their insurance company.

Dr. Alms also pleaded guilty to Medicaid fraud in 2019 and was ordered to pay $200,000 and surrender his dental license.
