5 recent dentistry ‘1sts’

From milestone FDA clearances to new DSO affiliations, here are five dental industry “firsts” that have taken place since Oct. 30:

1. Irvine, Calif.-based Pacific Dental Services and Fountain Valley, Calif.-based MemorialCare opened their first co-located integrated office in Irvine, Calif.

2. Vivos Therapeutics became the first company to gain FDA clearance for an alternative treatment to CPAP machines or surgical neurostimulation implants for patients with severe obstructive sleep apnea.

3. Delta Dental of Rhode Island and the Samuels Sinclair Dental Center at Rhode Island Hospital teamed up to create the first oral residency program in Rhode Island.

4. Overjet became the first and only dental AI provider capable of detecting and outlining instances of periapical radiolucency on radiographs for patients ages 12 and older with its most recent FDA clearance.

5. Sarasota, Fla.-based Dental Care Alliance made its first addition in Rhode Island by affiliating with Hodosh Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry, located in Providence.
