10 states with the worst dental health

Arkansas is the state with the worst dental health, according to personal finance website WalletHub, dropping from second worst in 2023.

Nine of the states that were ranked in the bottom 10 of the 2023 rankings stayed at the bottom in 2024. Only California moved out of the bottom 10, with Kentucky taking its place.

The site ranked all 50 states and Washington, D.C., based on two major metrics: dental habits and care and oral health. Those two broad categories were split into 25 dental wellness key metrics. WalletHub published the rankings Jan. 31.

Both categories were worth 50 points, giving each state a score out of 100.
