Patients who paid $30K for implants left stranded when practice closes

A dental practice in Woodbury, Minn., suddenly shut down, leaving patients stranded, according to a March 5 report by CBS affiliate WCCO.

Woodbury Dental Arts is led by Marko Kamel, DDS, who had his dental license temporarily suspended in May 2023. It was reinstated in June, but his license was suspended again in November and remains suspended today.

Patients getting dental implants at the practice were required to pay approximately $30,000 upfront.

Dr. Kamel's patients filed a report with the Minnesota Attorney General's Office, but there could be several weeks of investigation before anything is revealed.

The news outlet did not get a response when they reached out to Dr. Kamel's attorney, the report said.
