New York University looks to open dental school

New York City-based Yeshiva University has started the process of opening a dental school, The Commentator reported March 27.

Three things to know:

1. The university hopes to open the dental school within the next two years, according to Selma Botman, provost and vice president for academic affairs.

2. The university has also started the budgeting process for the school and is looking for space that would house both the school and a dental clinic.

3. The university hired Edward Farkas, DDS, to serve as interim dean of the dental school for a two-year term. That term would end if the university fails to launch the dental school by that time.
