From DSO affiliations to new legislation, here are five dentistry updates that have taken place in Illinois so far this year:
1. Jonesboro, Ark.-based GPS Dental added Naperville, Ill.-based West Suburban Oral Healthcare to its network.
2. The University of Illinois Chicago appointed Susan Rowan, DDS, as dean of its dental school.
3. The Illinois State Dental Society's legislative agenda in 2024 is centered around dental insurance reform, the Dental Practice Act and the Illinois Medicaid Program.
4. A bill introduced to the Illinois House of Representatives Feb. 6 would add provisions to the Illinois Dental Practice Act related to third-party financing.
5. A former Illinois dentist pleaded guilty to wire fraud after practicing unlicensed dentistry.
