California dental assistant charged with sexual acts on pediatric patient

A dental assistant has been charged with four counts of sexual acts with a child under 10 at a San Pablo, Calif., dental practice, the Contra Costa District Attorney’s office said April 11.

Bonerge Maldonado-Zaldana, 22, worked at the San Pablo Towne Centre Dental Office, where the incident allegedly took place April 5. 

Investigators collected evidence and took statements from the child’s mother, dental office staff and Mr. Maldonado-Zaldana on April 6 before arresting Mr. Maldonado-Zaldana on April 8. 

He is currently being held at the Martinez (Calif.) Detention Facility and was scheduled for arraignment April 11. 

An employee at the San Pablo Towne Centre Dental Office had no comment. Becker’s will update this story as more information becomes available.
