Abbas Mohammadi, DDS, owner and operator of Manchester, Conn.-based Columbia Dental and Columbia Oral Maxillofacial Imaging, is accused of repeatedly overcharging the Connecticut Medical Assistance Program for dental fillings that were either never performed or were not necessary.
An investigation reportedly found evidence of dental X-rays taken by dental assistants who were not certified by the Dental Assisting National Board. From Jan. 1, 2014, to Nov. 30, 2015, Columbia Dental routinely submitted claims for payment to the CMAP for X-rays taken by dental assistants who were not certified to do so.
