Tammy Del Sol, DMD, of Harrisburg, Pa.-based Colonial Dental Group, told the news station she experienced carpal tunnel syndrome and needed surgery over time after holding dental tools like a mouth mirror.
She created the grip during the COVID-19 pandemic and was later accepted into the Penn State Ben Franklin TechCelerator program, which helps empower tech startups with professional guidance and funding. She earned $11,000 as part of the program, which she said will be used toward the development and testing of a scalpel prototype.
