Dr. Hu is the school’s Samuel D. Harris collegiate professor of dentistry and chair of the department of biologic and materials sciences and prosthodontics. She is an accomplished leader and scholar in the dental community, having received several awards and funding from the National Institutes of Health for 28 years. She has completed more than 150 peer-reviewed articles for publication that have contributed to the understanding of tooth formation and mineralization and facilitated genetic testing and interventions of patients with inherited tooth disorders.
She will succeed Laurie McCauley, DDS, PhD, who was appointed the university’s next provost and executive vice president for academic affairs in March.
