The American Dental Association’s Forsyth Institute has selected PDS Health Technologies to implement a dental-optimized instance of Epic at its in-house dental clinic in Somerville, Mass.
The clinic, Forsyth Faculty Associates, hosts the Center for Clinical and Translational Research and also serves as the home base for the organization’s community dentistry programs.
The clinic’s implementation of Epic will support medical-dental integration in clinical care and research by providing a more complete view of patient health information and improving care coordination, according to a June 16 news release.
The partnership also gives the clinic’s providers and researchers access to Epic Cosmos, a dataset of more than 300 million de-identified patient records and 16 billion encounters from partnering health systems, enabling researchers to explore patterns in care and patient outcomes.
PDS Health launched PDS Health Technologies last April to provide EHR capabilities to external organizations and providers through Epic Community Connect. Other organizations that have adopted PDS Health’s instance of Epic include the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif., and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
