Arkansas’ 1st dental school names dean

Batesville, Ark.-based Lyon College has named Burke Soffe, DMD, dean of its upcoming dental school, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette reported Jan. 12.

Dr. Soffe currently serves as assistant dean for faculty development and curriculum at the Roseman University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine in South Jordan, Utah. He will serve in an advisory capacity before officially beginning his new role July 1.

Lyon’s School of Oral Health and Dental Medicine will be the first dental school in the state, according to the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette.

The college plans to begin dental classes in 2024 or 2025.
