Dental insurance company United Concordia Dental has appointed Candace Gama, DDS, as dental director, Dental Clinical Review – Auditing.
In the newly created position, Dr. Gama will oversee the accuracy, medical necessity and appropriateness of dental claims and adjudication, according to a March 10 news release from United Concordia Dental.
She will also lead clinical audits and develop audit protocols for claims and provide clinical decision support, education and training to the clinical review team.
Dr. Gama had previously served as part-time clinical review auditor at United Concordia Dental. Before joining the company, she was assistant director clinical review at Guardian Life, another dental insurance provider.
Dr. Gama spent nearly two decades of her career as a private practice dentist, the release said.
