Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder proposes expansion of state's pediatric dental program

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder (R) announced a budget proposal that includes a provision for the expansion of the state's Healthy Kids Dental program, according to a Public News Service report.

The expansion would bring the pediatric dental program to three of the state's most populous counties, according to the report. The Health Kids Dental program is already available in the state's 80 other counties. Michigan will contribute $8 million to the expansion, while the federal government will cover the remaining two-thirds of the cost.

The program hopes to expand care to 600,000 low-income adult patients, as well.
