Here are seven dentists making headlines this week.

Heather Clark, DMD, and dentists at Clark Family Dentistry in St. Joseph offered Missouri residents free dental care. The dentists helped dozens of patients on Sat., Oct. 10, according to St. Joe Channel.

Olya Banchik, DDS, created "Smiles for Survivors" to treat breast cancer patients and survivors for oral health issues.

Retired dentist David Schubert, DDS, provided much-needed dental care for patients in a rural mountain community in Haiti. Dr. Schubert has run the Dental Mission in Baudin, Haiti, for 20 years and his next trip is scheduled from Oct. 27 to Nov. 4, according to mysurburanlife.com.

Steven N. Holcombe, DMD, will replace James Knutson, DDS, at Lake Street Family Dental in Mora, Minn. Dr. Knutson is retiring at the end of September, according to Kanabec County Times.

Jason McDowell, DDS, of Minn.-based Wayzata Dental, is one of the first dentists in the Twin Cities to use Solea, the first FDA-approved dental laser. Solea serves as an alternative to the drill and Novocain used in dental procedures, according to E-dental.com.

John M. Abajian, DDS, of Artistic Smiles in Agoura Hills, Calif., is offering affordable payment plans to make costly cosmetic dentistry procedures for affordable for patients.
