1. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signed a number of bills into law July 24, including one that addresses limitations put in place by health insurers when it comes to dental care and services.
2. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro signed nine bills into law July 15, including one to prohibit dental insurers from forcing dentists to accept credit card payments.
3. Lawmakers in Rhode Island and Louisiana passed legislation to hold dental insurance companies more accountable through dental loss ratio bills.
4. Illinois passed House Bill 4789 and Senate Bill 3305. HB 4789 holds insurers liable for their prior authorizations, prohibiting insurers from denying claims submitted in procedures specifically included in a prior authorization, barring certain circumstances. SB 3305 requires insurers to provide coverage for medically necessary treatment for jaw injuries, through both accidents or diseases.
