Missouri Sen. Ben Brown recently filed legislation for the state to join the Dental and Dental Hygienist Compact.

Four notes:

1. The compact, which is backed by the American Dental Association, aims to improve license portability for dentists and dental hygienists by allowing them to practice in all participating states without obtaining a license for each individual state.

2. Twelve states have joined the compact so far, with nine other states having pending legislation to join.

3. The Missouri legislature’s Emerging Issues and Professional Registration Committee held a hearing on the bill Jan. 20.

4. If passed, the bill would go into effect Aug 28.
