Law firm investigating Henry Schein data breach: 5 things to know

The law firm of Federman & Sherman has launched an investigation into dental supplier Henry Schein concerning a data breach suffered by the company, according to an Oct. 24 news release.

Here are five things to know:

1. On Oct. 23, 2024, Henry Schein filed a notice of data breach with the Attorney General of Maine.

2. Henry Schein experienced a cybersecurity incident on Oct. 14, 2023. 

3. After reviewing the incident, Henry Schein determined that certain information, including full names, Social Security numbers and other sensitive information may have been exposed in the breach.

4. The company announced the incident on Oct. 15, 2023, but did not begin mailing notices to potentially affected individuals until a year later, Oct. 16, 2024.

5. In November 2023, Henry Schein restored its systems following the breach.
