Delta Dental of Massachusetts proposed contract changes with reduced reimbursement rates to dentists in order for the nonprofit to grow and remain competitive. Many dentists are concerned about absorbing the cuts and asking Delta Dental to look elsewhere for savings, according to the Boston Globe.

1. Dentists suggest cutting executive compensation, which exceeds the pay at other Massachusetts nonprofit insurers.
2. In 2015, eight executives at Delta Dental's parent company earned more than $1 million in total compensation. In 2011, only one executive had that earning.
3. Dentists say the new contract would slash reimbursement rates for a variety of dental procedures by as much as 30 percent.
4. With 24 million members in 30 states, the company said it generated $1.8 billion in revenue through all its subsidiaries in 2015.
5. Around 4,200 Massachusetts dentists have signed the new contract.
