1. Dr. Unger’s colleagues say he actively spoke with state and national legislators on various health issues and was a strong supporter of adding fluoridation to drinking water to reduce dental caries.
2. In 1973, Dr. Unger took the reigns as president of the Illinois State Dental Society and then became the vice president of the American Dental Association from 1973 to 1974.
3. He pursued his dental degree at Chicago College of Dental Surgery, currently a part of Loyola University Chicago’s dental school.
4. He was a captain in the Army Dental Corps. for two years after earning his dental degree. Dr. Unger then went into private practice in Chicago.
