Aspen Dental expanding rapidly in 2017: 6 key points on the 2nd largest DSO

Aspen Dental is the second largest dental service organization in the nation, with 600-plus affiliated or supported practices. The company has opened a slew of offices in 2017.

Here are six points on various offices the organization opened so far this year:

1. In January, Aspen Dental announced it was opening four Missouri offices in Rankin, Lee, Jackson and Lowndes counties.

2. Nearly one month later, Aspen Dental opened offices in Tucson, Ariz., and Muskogee, Okla.

3. On March 10, Aspen announced plans to open its new practice in Owings Mills, Md.

4. On May 11, Aspen Dental announced its plans to open 11 offices in Louisiana to provide care to the underserved populations. Of the 11 offices, 10 are located in different parishes and eight are in dental health professional shortage areas.

5. Aspen Dental continued opening practices through the summer months, opening several practices in June, July and August. On Aug. 23, Aspen Dental opened two offices; one in Freeport, Ill., and another in St. Peters, Mo.

6. Throughout September, Aspen Dental has opened various offices, the most recent being an office in Kenner, La. Sapna Mathur, DMD, is running the office.
